Why we don't price per label.
LabelFort prices engagements, not labels: a free one-hour Compliance Review, a $100 evidence-grade PoC, a governed pilot, then production scale - each priced against the governance burden of your data, not its volume.
If cost-per-label is your only criterion, we're honestly not your vendor. If shipping a model past Compliance, Legal and Procurement is, read on.
The engagement ladder
Four stages of one engagement, not four plans competing for your budget. Every stage is scoped before it starts, and nothing commits you to the next.

What actually moves the price
There is no feature matrix here because the tiers are not the variable - your governance burden is. These six inputs set the band, and you see them scored during the Compliance Review.
- Data sensitivity and residency
- Public imagery versus PHI under BAA, de-identification workflows, and EU or India residency configurations.
- Review depth
- Single pass, dual review, or full adjudication of disagreements - each is a different amount of qualified human time.
- Agreement threshold
- The inter-annotator agreement bar you need held, and how tightly it has to be measured and reported.
- Evidence requirements
- Immutable logging coverage, export scope per dataset, and the artifacts your Legal team will actually read.
- Service level
- Turnaround commitments, sustained throughput, and the escalation path when a batch slips.
- On-Premise Deployment
- Whether the engagement runs in your own infrastructure - private cloud or on-prem - so restricted data never leaves your control. On-premise setups carry additional configuration, security review and support burden.
Two ways to price the same batch
What per-label pricing measures
Price-per-label measures the wrong thing
A bounding box on a street photo and a lesion boundary on a CT slice are not the same product, even if both are "one label". One carries PHI obligations, clinician review, audit logging and evidence export; the other doesn't. Vendors who quote per-label either average that difference away (you overpay for simple work) or quietly strip the governance (you underpay now and fail diligence later).
What engagement pricing measures
What you're actually buying
Regulated teams don't buy labels; they buy the right to ship a model past their own Compliance, Legal, Security and Procurement reviews. That right is produced by governance: trained teams, separation of duties, measured agreement, immutable logs, exportable evidence. Our pricing anchors to that burden - transparently, in bands you see before committing.
FAQs
Why doesn't LabelFort publish a price per label?
Because price-per-label prices the wrong thing. Two datasets with identical label counts can carry wildly different governance burdens - PHI vs public images, dual review vs single pass, evidence exports vs raw output. Engagement pricing anchors cost to the governance you actually need.
What does the evidence-grade PoC cost?
A fixed $100, scoped before you commit - up to 1,000 annotations with a 100% audit framework, full evidence export and AI-assisted labeling. A paid PoC triggers real procurement engagement; free trials produce polite silence. Its product is the Evidence Export your Legal and Procurement teams actually review.
Is the Compliance Review really free?
Yes, while our motion is founder-led: one hour with a documented gap analysis against your regulatory posture. You keep the findings either way.
What determines engagement pricing?
Governance burden: data sensitivity and residency, review depth (single/dual/adjudicated), IAA thresholds, evidence requirements, service level, and on-premise deployment. You see the bands before the PoC and the exact statement of work before the pilot.
Do you support on-prem or private deployment for restricted data?
Yes. On-premise and private-cloud configurations keep restricted data inside your infrastructure. Deployment options are scoped during the Compliance Review and are one of the six inputs that set your engagement band.
Do you offer discounts?
Three legitimate conditions: design partners with reference rights, multi-year commitments, and named strategic accounts. Outside those, the price is the price - discount games are how vendors end up in the commodity lane we built LabelFort to avoid.
How does LabelFort handle audit logs, data residency and PHI?
Audit logs are immutable with 100% coverage and export per dataset. EU and India data-residency configurations are available. PHI runs under BAAs with de-identification workflows and minimum-necessary access.
The band is scoped, & the delivery is measured.
Engagement pricing only works if the governance you paid for is provable afterwards - scored on the platform, not estimated in a proposal. The one-hour Compliance Review gives you the band & a documented gap analysis before any data moves.
